I’ve been going to Bellevue Pain and Wellness just since Jan, 2023. I recently saw Marshall Kim for the first time as my first few appt’s were w/Dr. Bowers. I asked a question which prompted Marshall and I to discuss what types of exercises would likely help lumbar pain – many I’m already doing. Our conversation went on and Marshall was extremely knowledgeable about the types of exercises that help keep as much bone density as possible as I age, which I wasn’t aware of, nor had I even considered, so I have some work to do in this area. I already have a few additional questions to ask at my next appointment.
This clinic treats pain from all aspects. If you suffer w/chronic pain, you know there are many things that affect it – sleep, diet, perspective, movement, exercise, support, stress, etc. I’ve found not just one pain management tool adequately addresses chronic pain.
When I asked about my insomnia at the last ‘pain management’ clinic I went to, the doctor said, “I don’t know what you’re going to do about your sleep.” When I asked my previous provider about diet, exercise, and other things that might help my pain level, I got similar types of responses.
It’s an absolute blessing that provider decided to change my treatment plan, which had been working well for years, because it prompted me to seek a new provider. However, after my previous provider told me about my treatment plan change and before I found BP & W, I started having thoughts such as, “How much longer am I going to be able to continue to work without adequate pain management?” “How much longer am I going to be able to continue to be active and exercise without adequate pain management?” It was unsettling to say the least. I realized last week that since I started at BP & W, I’ve not had any of those thoughts.
BP & W shares my philosophy on pain management, they’re totally reasonable and understand there are many things that affect chronic pain and the severity of it. AND they’re willing to help me continue my good functioning. I’m learning some new things I can do to on my own to stay active and healthy at each appointment, which I’m extremely grateful for.
